Random Japanese Set Sentences / Words

Just a random bunch of sentences/words/figures of speech I’ve come across while studying Japanese.

• なに食わぬ顔: “to have an innocent look”
• 丸くなって: “in a circle” (like curling up when sleeping)
• だめもと: giving something a try because there is nothing to lose
• 昨日の今日: literally “yesterday’s today”, it means “not a full day has yet passed since” <something happened>
• 死ぬほどX: “to X something to death” (love to death, etc)
• 一癖も二癖もある: “to be hard to deal with”
• 持ちつ持たれつ: “give-and-take”
• 出来得る限り: “as (much/far) as possible”
• 頭からつま先まで: “from head to toe”
• 見様見真似: “Learning by imitation”
• しいて言えば: “If I have to choose / if I have to say something”
